AMAZING CONFERENCE!| EDINBURGH, SCOTLAND | MAY 2023

Bruce was invited to the Walter Scott investment conference in May (the occasion marked Walter Scott 40th  Anniversary– also see ‘News’ of 2008, being the inaugural conference). There were many other topics visited: the outlook for energy, the environment and the political scene were especially interesting subjects. Research on short-term developments as well as longer-term trends gave much food for thought (there was also delicious food between talks!). Presentations from primary (eg agriculture), secondary (eg manufacturers) and tertiary (eg information technology) sector companies gave great insights. The range of speakers was a delight: Matteo Renzi (former Italian PM), Jean-Jacques Guiony (Chief Financial Officer of LVMH) and Ronnie Chan (Chairman, Hang Lung Properties, based in Hong Kong), Itay Talgam (famous classical music composer and conductor) and Hannah Fry (mathematician extraordinaire)! But a central theme of course was the state of markets, how money is managed and investment decisions made and Walter Scott personnel presented expertly or led such sessions. All fascinating, informative and thought-provoking. Great ideas to apply for Nova clients!
