Victoria & Abdul Movie | Grand Cygnet Cinema, Como WA | September 2017

NOVA once again hosted some of our clients at the nearby Cygnet Cinema in Como, this time to see the movie VICTORIA & ABDUL, a 2017 British biographical comedy-drama film starring Dame Judi Dench, Ali Fazal, Michael Gambon. The film, based on the book of same name by Shrabani Basu, is about the extraordinary real-life relationship between Queen Victoria and her Indian-Muslim servant Abdul Karim.

When Abdul Karim, a young clerk, travels from India to participate in the Queen Victoria’s Golden Jubilee, he is surprised to find favour with the Queen herself. The two forge an unlikely and devoted alliance with a loyalty to one another. And as the friendship deepens, the Queen begins to see a changing world through new eyes. Nova clients saw it within days of its world premiere at the 74th Venice Film Festival and it’s theatrical release on 15 September 2017 in the UK. Everyone enjoyed a buffet lunch which featured Indian delights. NOVA was excited to bring this vignette of history to our clients.
